I have a 1/8 NPT water temp sensor I need to install somewhere on my V10. (Putting in some glowshift gauges) Is there any port holes on the V10 block for a 1/8 NPT water temp sensor. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
If I remember I installed mine on the rear of one of the heads. It was a hex plug and I took it out and my sending unit fit into it, but be careful when removing the plug because some of the coolant will spill out.

I gave it a try tonight, but failed those little hex bolts in the rear of the heads on my V10 and super tight and I was unable to lossen either one of them. I noticed a bigger hex head down on the block on the drivers side kinda near the oil filter. It looks like a water port I might try and use that location.
Hit the plug with PB Blaster (or similar) and let soak a day or two before trying to remove. It will make a huge difference in how easily the plug comes out.
I got the sensor installed in the engine block near the oil filter. Seems to be working quite well. Temp fully warmed up is around 190F. I'll give it a month or so, but think this location will work out just fine.

What is the thread size of that hole and what adapter did you use. I have been looking at the some spot. Do you know how deep that hole is?

Keep an eye on the wires for the sensor. That location is close to the exhaust pipe if it is near the rear of the block and below the exhaust manifold and the wire can eventually melt. Mine did and I had to buy another sender for my gauge.
I had to put insulation around the wire and use a old license plate as a heat shield. When towing the temp at that location can be quit a bit higher as well. Mine runs over 220 - 230 there sometimes. Factory gauge never moves since its sensor is up in front I believe.
Im looking for temp sender location on a 2006 F350 V 10?? Also thinking about putting oil temp in the pan plug hole,,,trany temp into test port. Also connected orange wire to my head light switch on the dash for dim control. I like these Maxtow gauges.
