If its a 4X4, mine had the front axle vacuum lines eaten through by the battery acid. They were routed up the fender well under the battery box; I rerouted up the firewall with no problem.
I also had the spiders explode in the rear end at 135,000 miles, as well as both axles wear out at 140,000 miles, my '99 f150 only made it to 75,000 miles.
I continue to have problems with the ABS light coming on, I believe because of a sensor issue, I have a recurring check engine light for the EGR valve, I have a front diff air line(?) the one that is a hose that equalizes the pressure in the punkin puking diff oil on the fender well, and everything is rusty on the undercarridge. I live in the desert of Washington state... NOTHING I have is rusting like this rig. Oh, and all of my header bolts to the exhaust are just about non existent from the Aluminum heads.
I think that is about it, it has always run real good, and remember I bought it after the previous owner slid it into a ditch wrinkling the front end. Does what i need it to do though.
im picking this one up for 2500 i know the owner and used to work at his shop it'll be take me and the family to va along with a cartrailer and my monte. then be a family rig. never realized that these had so many issues though

I would buy another, most of my problems have been pretty general that I would expect, or at least not surprised by, the problems I ve had because of the mileage. I have owned it since 125000 miles, and now it has 151000 miles, and other than fussing with the battery corrosion and it not starting a few times, it has never left me stranded. I ve owned it for 6 years now and I would still feel comfortable in driving it anywhere.
My 97 had 235000 on it when I got rid of it, replaced the axle seals, COPS (twice), and an alternator. When I traded it in (for an 03) the dealership couldn't believe how well it ran and solid it was for the amount of miles. Best vehicle I have ever owned.
