Resetting the Key less Entry Key Code

When I bought the truck, the key less entry keypad key code was not in the glove box, I went to the local dealership & they wanted to charge me $95 claiming that they had to put the truck on the computer. Is this true? The manual says it is on the module and any local dealership should be able to give it to you. Has anyone had to do this?
Thanks

Depending on the year of the truck, It may be hidden on the module or by the jack stowage area. Mine is a 2000 and it is my understanding that Ford wasn't hiding the code in the vehicle yet. They can get you the code by plugging it in, but you can do it for free. Keep searching FTE. I know there is a thread that has the fix for this because I used it and it worked. It is one number that is like 1300 digits long and contains every possible combination of number for the pad. Just start entering the number...it's easier at 2 people... and when the door unlocks, circle the last five digits you entered. I did it by myself and it only took a few minutes. I'll go searching too and see if I can find it for ya. Good luck.

It`ll be attached to the module. I can`t remeber, but I think it`s under the dash. on my 95 Explorer the module was in the L/R behind the interior 1/4 panel.

I tried this, after the 5th or 6th wrong entry the keypad started to blink on and off, should you still enter the codes while this is going on?

I work at the Kentucky Truck Plant, where these beasts were built. I had the same problem when I bought my X, so I went down and asked the guys in the major repair area. I was told that it "should" be on the back of the fusebox under the dash. I looked there, and alas......it wasn't there.

I just bit the bullet and went to the dealer and paid em to retrieve it for me. I didn't feel like tearing my truck all apart to find it.

Its worth it, and only takes about 15 minutes tops. I turned around and programmed the same code into my X as I have in my F-150 and Explorer.
$49 is a good deal too.

It's up to you, but I am too tight to pay for something I can do for free. I had to go about 1/3 of the way through that number before I found the code. It was cold out that day and my finger got sore before the pad did. I don't think you have to worry about the pad though. If you read some of those other threads, there are tons of people who have used this method to find the code. I don't remember one of them saying they had trouble with the pad. But like I said it's up to you. Good luck.
