I was gone for about a month away from home, come back saturday and when I start to drive it I notice the wheel is stiff to turn like theres no Power steering or that its barely there. I pop the hood, fluids are actually lower than the min line so I go and put in some fluid to top it off. Well, its still stiff to steer and I have been told that if the power steering pump was going out I would hear whining/grinding noise from the pump giving out. I just dont know what to do at this point, Im not positive but I thought I remember reading something that it has speed sensitive steering but have no clue if that would be a factor or not to troubleshoot into. Any ideas would be awsome, I just have no earthly idea what it could be. Yeah I know that I haven't driven it in a month and the rental I had had soft steering but my arms shouldnt be sore from steering.....i dunno lol.
Hey guys, I've think I stumbled upon MY solution. After looking at practically everything, and finding nothing out of ordinary...I had my son get in the vehicle and turn the steering wheel from stop to stop, while I was carefully spraying WD-40 on the joint in the intermediate shaft. WA LA! No more funky steering issue. Had to lube her up again about a three weeks ago, but still working fine.
hope this helps.
