blown turbo?....HELP!

blown turbo?....HELP!

hello all, haven't been on since 11/09 been busy and broken computer didn't help, but i need some help badly....i have a 99.5 7.3 turbo and i was accelerating from a stoplight when all of a sudden i heard a pop and it seemed like it lost power the engine kept running oil pressure was up but my boost went to 0 and does not move . i'm asumming i lost my turbo but how i don't know...i did a foil delete yesterday and it seemed to run fine up until a couple of hours ago..any suggestions? also can i drive it without my turbo working as i need to go to work in the a. m i'll send this now and hope someone sees this post and replies soon . thanks in advance

Check your intercooler boots, sounds like you blew one off. Take them off and clean the oily residule off with some Simple Green and let dry and put them back on. Some guys spray a shot of hairspray on the contact areas to keep them from doing it again..

Sounds like you didn't tighten one of your boots and blew one off. Look for something like this:

thanks big poppa, i'll check it out right now....can it be driven like that?...its supposed to snow tonight and my beast wont fit in garage

Sounds like Mike and Joe have you looking in the way I would look first. Check your IC boots.

Your welcome, Joe's pic shows the one that ussually blows off. Since your pressed for time and need the truck, fix that and later when you get some time, take all the boots off and give a good cleaning to them, check the condition of them too, they crack with age. If they are cracked, RiffRaff diesel performance(Sponsor above) sells very good boots at a very attractive price, they'll last a very long time. I wouldn't run it without fixing that boot, you'll have no power and blow tons of smoke on excel, easy fix, just do it.. I'm with yaa on the garage, mine don't fit either..
