My Ranger projects I list in stages.
G-1 is the grocery getter I have been gradually bullet proofing. 4-cyl, 5-speed.
G-2 is going to be a Ranger Frame, 351W, AOD tranny, Explorer 3.73 Limited Slip rear, not sure what year Ranger cab and bed -something cool.
I have most of it gathered up and awaiting assembly. I have a chassis in my driveway awaiting modification.
G-3 will be ALL OUT! It will still be a Ranger cab and bed, but on an Explorer 4X4 Chassis. At this point it's kinda long range planning.
FULL SIZE isn't the point - just as Mustangs have a huge amount of power in a small package, it dawned on me to make a small truck that had so much horse power, that getting it all to the tire "FOOTPRINTS" would be a problem.
It's all about "POWER-to-WEIGHT" ratios. What is going to happen is that some extraordinary tires and rims will be necessary.
'Contact Surface'
The bigger the diameter - the longer that "FOOTPRINT" is. The same is true of width... And if you have all four pulling it gets even more interesting.
Those are my thoughts about the matter - and if someone else goes there first, GOOD ON THEM!
I will STILL one day have the fastest truck in THIS county...
And then of course there is the notion of "UNSPRUNG WEIGHT", but if you think about it, I'm sure you'll figure it out.
I've got news for ya - the terror of the tracks in the sixties was much like THIS:
DEFINE: "NORMAL" to a hot rodder or racer?
That thing is about a 1948 English FORD
(NOT AN ENTRY)
There was a guy with one in El Cajon California (SECOND STREET) that I was specifically warned never to run against....
He had already blown everyone elses DOORS off....
