Welder gun

Hi guys i have a craftsman welder, i like it and it does good for sheet metal work that i am doing. Latly i have notice that the end of the gun is loose and moving sideways. I took the handle apart and pushed the rubber back down then tightend the handle as tight as i could but it still moves. I was wondering if i would be able to have a differant gun put on from another brand like lincoln or miller. Thanks Justin

Most of those are made by Tweco, if you can dig around and find the actual manufacturer of the welder you can then find a cheaper alternative to the Sears parts.

If you are creative, you can get Tweco adapters for other welders that hold the base of the Tweco gun, mount the adapter to your welder so it lines up with the wire feed, and use the standard Tweco gun. Twecos have a "two male blade connector" setup that can be connected to many welders.

I don't know if it holds true for all Sears items built by a different contractor, but with their lawn mower engines, they tend to use the engine manufacturers parts numbers in their online parts diagrams.
What I am saying is if you go to here http://www.searspartsdirect.com/part...mp=xsite_Sears and type in the model number on the back (or wherever) of your welder the number for the part you need could well be the exact Tweco part number. Maybe. Worth a shot anyway.
Then just google the part number and see if a Tweco site is listed.

Take the assembly to a welding supply shop. They will either know what fits it or know of a direct replacement for it.

Thanks guy for the info. it still works it is just anoying. I had to put it backtogether once as the end fell out when i pulled the trigger. I wil probably take it to my welding supplyer and see what they can do. Maybe they would trade me strait up for a New Miller. Ha Ha yeah right but dreams do come true.
