Hello to all, this is my first time posting on the forum. I own an old ford dump truck we use for our farm work. I think it is a 46 or 47 with a V8 engine.
I had not used it in a while and water got down the carby and seized the engine up. I was wondering were I can get another engine from? What engines slip right if any?????
If any one has some ideas or knows of a running engine please let me know, need one ASAP for a reasonable price!!!!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
p.s. there are photo's of the truck in my album!!!!!
Welcome to the site. You are going to be limited to flathead V8's, pre '49 I believe, for an easy drop in. Have you had the dump truck looked at? Make sure the engine is indeed not fixable? Figure a good running flathead could set you back a thousand dollars or more, expect to pay a few hundred for a good rebuildable engine, not running. As for where to find one...classifieds, CraigsList, eBay, etc. They are out there, the biggest headache could be getting it to you if the engine is not local. Good luck on your truck, hope you can get back up and running again.
mix automatic transmission fluid and acetone half and half,
fill the cylinders and the intake as well as you can,
wait a year.,
then disassemble the engine and rebuild it.
I have a 95 hp flathead that run about seven years ago, I filled the cylinders and intake with oil then. It's in Kismet Kansas, and will need to be pulled out of the truck. and you can take it home for $400. I can even help pull it if you want it. let me know.
