Okay after having problems with the adapter to convert plug port to 1/8" IPT I decided to drill and tap top of fuel filter cap and attach 1/8" 90 ell. Completed it and installed electrical fuel pressure gauge. started engine and it runs like it has air in fuel and gauge shows zero fuel pressure. could I have an air leak in cap? Would that give me no fuel pressure at the top of fuel filter. I tested gauge with air and it is working.
Yes I did an have driven it at least a mile and running better but still not right. tomorrow I plan to pull cap again and oil o'ring reinstall it and torque.
Is there a bypass in the fuel filter so if fuel ressure is low it is diverted past filter.
Still wondering why no fuel pressur at the top of filter cap.

there's probably an air pocket in there. you'll probably have to unscrew the sender, while the fuel pump is running, just enough to bleed out the cap and 90. you might hear the air being pushed out. be ready to tighten it up quickly when you get fuel.
Sounds like you still have an air pocket in filter housing. It may take longer to get the air out if you have a mechanical gauge due to the air in the gauge line. Try cycling the key waiting 15 sec. between cycle. If your o-ring was bad I would think it would be leaking fuel. As the primary pump should supply more fuel than needed to run the motor.

Is the sender a single wire part? An electric fuel pressure sender probably needs a ground to work. If you drilled and tapped the plastic cap there is no ground for the sending unit. Try clipping a wire on it to ground just to test. If it starts working, you know. I found that DieselManor sells the aluminum caps with threaded ports in them and they conduct to ground when installed.
Thanks guys I found the problem, when I pulled the GDS spring to shorten and do the tap on top of cap it I inadvertantly lost the brass poppett, found it and reinstalled and problem is corrected.
