Hello i have a 99 f250 7.3 diesel that had just been taken apart and gone through and put back together, left the shop died a few times and restarted on the way home, finally died had it pulled home and it restarted the next day now died and wont start. Had it hooked up to a buddys snap-on and it threw the following codes:
P1670 EF feed back signal not detected
P0605
P1280 ICP out of range
P1209 Injection control system fault
P1211 Ic pressure Above/Below
Any ideas on where to start, put in new cps and still no go, Just lookin for ideas on what to check first thanks.
unplug your injection control pressure sensor on the drivers head near the front by the fuel bowl. It will be the sensor plugged into the round part of the head. unplug it and try to start. see what happens.
10.5 while cranking is the minimum i think! if you have a voltage meter just connect it to ur battery and position the meter so you can see it while cranking!
P605 is your culprit, if you clear that code and it comes back your pcm is fried and you need another. Below is copied and pasted out of the Ford PC/ED manual:
DTC P0605 is set when a read only memory (ROM) failure is detected in the powertrain control module (PCM).
Possible causes:
internal PCM failure
incorrect PCM calibration
ok well got into the truck this morning, we had gotten another pcm a while back when thats what we believed it was to begin with, so we changed it back to his old pcm. will that code still need to be cleared for it to start again because the old pcm did nothing at all. What are the odds that two of them would go that fast? just seems odd
What exactly was taken apart and put back together before this started? Can your buddy with the snap on run a buzz test to see if the IDM is communicating with the injectors? Any smoke out the tailpipe while cranking? Can you hear the fuel pump come on with the key?
I'd check the wiring to the ICP, the tin nut on the IPR, as well as the IPR wiring. Make sure there are no chaffed wires going to those 2 sensors.
Have your buddy monitor ICP in psi, IPR duty %, and voltage while cranking with the scanner.
the ipr has been rebuilt, new cps, new bearings, low pressure fuel pump, i checked pretty decent and i didnt see any chaffed wires, i can see if i can get him back over for the buzz test. The fuel pump is new and running there is 10.8 volts when cranking, and i dont see any smoke coming from the tailpipe while cranking
Did you refill the HPOP reservoir after the IPR rebuild? Is it full now? Engine oil full? Did any electrical connections not get plugged back in? Let us know about the buzz test and the ICP while cranking.
