I'm working on plans to make a flatbed for Beast and i'm wanting to throw some 3" stacks up. I can't afford chrome so i was thinking painting reg ol exhaust pipe gloss black.
Anyone have a pic? What do you think?
I'm thinking 5' tall measured from the top of the frame... Or should i go for a 4' tall stack?
i just went to the junkyard here that has semi's and had them cut some exhaust pipe for me i think my stack cost around $20 to make the pipe cost me 10
Older trucks with the 318 detroits and a lot of older macks had 4" stacks and would make you a good compromise. Build your flatbed 4 1/2 inches wider on both sides of the cab and run attached to the front of the flatbed from under the body and they would look good.
best place for straight pipe and cheap i believe is the muffler shops. Straight sections of pipe from the auto stores are pricey and here they come in minimum 8 foot lengths. I went to a big rig repair shop and they had a 4" section 4feet long and he just let me have it since they rarely use anything straight in that length. At another exhaust shop there were all kinds of scrap and he usually let people have the junk box stuff as long as they didnt ask for the whole box haha i would check around!
