Pic request - black stacks?

I'm working on plans to make a flatbed for Beast and i'm wanting to throw some 3" stacks up. I can't afford chrome so i was thinking painting reg ol exhaust pipe gloss black.

Anyone have a pic? What do you think?

I'm thinking 5' tall measured from the top of the frame... Or should i go for a 4' tall stack?

Thanks guys!

I'd go with some BarBQ grill paint instead of gloss black. It would hold up better of course.

Looks good Rupe. Thing is, I want dual 3" pipes and I've never seen them that small on a semi.

Crew, I was going to go with a high temp paint, just gloss black color...

3" diameter stacks would probably look kinda funny.

Older trucks with the 318 detroits and a lot of older macks had 4" stacks and would make you a good compromise. Build your flatbed 4 1/2 inches wider on both sides of the cab and run attached to the front of the flatbed from under the body and they would look good.

Not black, but they are 3" dual stacks.
The chrome part of the stack is 48" long.

The other day I stopped at Tractor Supply.

There was a Dodge sitting in the parking lot with 8" dual miter cut stacks.

If you wanted to look at something that looks dumb, that was it.

An 8" stack? That must look like crap!

I really like the stacks on your truck Dave, Thats what I am going for, only painted black to match the flat bed and brush guard.

Whats the best place to get the pipe cheap?

best place for straight pipe and cheap i believe is the muffler shops. Straight sections of pipe from the auto stores are pricey and here they come in minimum 8 foot lengths. I went to a big rig repair shop and they had a 4" section 4feet long and he just let me have it since they rarely use anything straight in that length. At another exhaust shop there were all kinds of scrap and he usually let people have the junk box stuff as long as they didnt ask for the whole box haha i would check around!

I got mine through the muffler shop that helped fab up the exhaust up to the stacks.

I had to design what I wanted since the dump bed left no place to mount the stacks up top.

The shop owner was convinced they would never stay on, that was 10 years ago.
