I hope they went so far as to replace the external filter as well as blow the cooler and lines when they replaced the trans. If you shift from reverse to forward and push the accelerator does the engine rev up quickly without the truck moving? If so it is still driveline related and not the engine or engine electronics.
now back to the fan thing you would need to know fanvar# , fanss and rpm to see if you have a vdf issue.
fanvar# = van duty cycle
fanss = fan speed rpm
rpm = engine rpm
vdf = viscouis drive fan
have you by chnace look at the amount of drive line wind up aswell. this would be transfer case chain play and rear drive shaft, drive shaft splines and rear diff backlash
not tring to confuse you just give you direction and places to look.
Lets just say this, cuz it's hard to explain. Just backed up, shifted into drive, whether rolling or not, depress slightly on accelerator and there's NO response from engine or trans, does not throttle up or start moving until a point just past slightly depressing the pedal is reached then it lunges forward. There is a slight clunking sound when it finally engages also but I think that is the slip yoke.
my trans knowledge is somewhat limited... i have built only a few 5r100 units and oly because I had to not by choice. I am not to bad on the engine end though. As such I really cant give much more advise other then input of a few things to check and the basic knowen concerns the pc-a and what else I have seen.
I have a 2003 started with the same problem. Now I also have an issue with the tranny showing hot when first started even before driving. In the shop now hope they can let me know something soon. If it is pertinent information I will pass it on as soon as I have it.
Had a similar problem with my 7.3l 4R100 after the tranny overheated.Turned out to be the lockup clutch in the converter.Does your truck ever stall.Mine did it mainely from reverse to drive and more often when towing or under load on hills
Fatboymedic, yes please pass on anything that might help. To answer gplons, no my truck has never stalled on me and it runs great, just this dead pedal issue. Where is this pc-a??
the pc a is is a silenoid on the megatronics.
the trans overheating before driving is caused by a failed tft and possible an issue with the trans harness.
