Are they the same as Ford codes. The CEL came on on my wife's 06 Expedition last night after giving a FailSafe Mode message and dying at a stop sign. The message went away and the truck started back, but the light is on. The dealership was closed so I sent her by Auto Zone and the printouts they gave her read:
P2104-Throttle actuator control system forced idle
Explanation-Throttle actuator control system is in FNEM mode of forced idle.
Probable Cause
Defective APP sensor
Multiple Control system faults detected
Failed ECM
P2112
Throttle Actuator system stuck closed
Explanation
ECM has detected the throttle plate is at a lower angle than commanded
Probable Cause
Binding throttle body-stuck closed
Could someone put this in laymans terms for me? Thanks in advance.
a code is a code is a code, does not matter who reads it. codes up to 1000 are generic codes over 1000 are vehicle specific.
I don't know much about this truck but it sounds like you have "throttle by wire". I would start by looking around and seeing if anything looks lose or did something get wet. I believe the APP is your gaspedal. is anything stuck around it any debris.
could a sticky butterfly valve on the TB cause this?
some non expert thoughts. lets see what some other peeps say.

I might have confused you with that comment. The codes you got ie, P2112, P2104 could mean something different for a different manufacturer. in your case it appears that AZ read them as Ford codes and they are accurate. Was the wife driving like a crazy women or anything. This is the issue that some people think Toyota is having. The truck goes into a safemode if anything gets weird.
I think the 2104 code is a result of the 2112 code. Meaning the truck had to take action because it thought the the throttle body was stuck closed (P2112) - that action resulted in the code P2104 being given. I would make sure the throttle body is good and clean. How has the truck ran since? Did they clear the codes for you? If the truck is running OK I would have the codes cleared and see if they come back
No, the wife doesn't drive like a crazy woman, sometimes I think she doesn't run it hard enough. It's been the wettest winter in a long time, so that could be an option, I guess.
It idles just a little rough, but accelerates and run really smooth. It's just that occasionally (at a stop sign or red light) it will go dead and the message center will show "Engine in fail safe mode" but start right back up. This is the first time that the CEL has stayed on, so I'm trying to figure it out before it goes off again. Thanks for the input.

do you keep up with the maintenance, fuel filter air filter pcv? clean the maf, clean the TB etc.. that is what i would do first.
