85' AOD transmission

Good morning all!
I need to know if an 85 AOD Transmission has a vacuum modulator? if so where would it be located?

Nope, no modulator valve. The transmission gets it's shift points via a TV Cable.

Okay, Second question to that, There is a return spring located on the arm, that spring is supposed to be a 10# pull. I looked in the chilton manual, it shows a spring that hooks to the back of the transmission, The one on mine doesn't reach, I bought some "universal" carb springs and plan to replace the shorty spring on it, I am doing this because i belive it isn't reaching its desired 10# pull. What does a transmission do when it doesn't have the correct spring installed? Will it "jump" around or shift too quickly? My truck seems to shift quickly and doesn't downshift when I let off the throttle. Is this caused by an incorrect spring or am I looking at deeper trouble? Sorry for the long-winded question. I have found its much much easier to fix the small things first.

the spring is to make sure the TV cable returns when you let off the throttle.
wierd shifting can come from incorrect TV adjustment, short shifting (early) usually means the TV cable/rod isn't pulling enough.
do a search for TV and you should get some good advice on how to adjust.
