So i bought a 79 f150 and i want to put a 460 in it, is there anything special needed for the conversion, the truck currently has a 351m with a c6,
2nd ? is the old guy said that it originally was a shelby package or something, is that a real package from back then, it used to be silver with red striped running downt the hood to the body and shelby mags according to him? any pics if it is true?
L+L motor mounts (the best I've found) 2 wheel drive or van exhaust manifolds or headers,NEVER CUT THE FRAME!!!!!!! to fit car manifolds. and a flex plate for an internally or externally balanced engine depending on what yours is, to tell there is a spacer behind the damper if it's got a fly weight it's external balance
if it's a 2wd search around in the junkyards and online for someone parting out one with a 460, get the frame mounts and accessory brackets, don't forget the transmission kickdown. this is the easiest/cheapest/best way to do it.
it is a 2wd and not freewheeling i thought he was full of it, i've heard of free wheeling, trailer specials, customs, and rangers, and the "northland" what ever that is, oh and the indy pace truck, but not shelby, so yeah any specific year of 460? by buddy told me to find some 429 heads for it. but any body already have done what i plan to do? if so i am gonna rebuild the transmission so shift kits?
Well Hell I've got a pair of motor mounts for that combo I'm just so used to 4x4 stuff that's how I answer all ?'s if you want them let me know!!!! can't get any cheaper than free you just pay shipping.
