got my core out today....not too bad

Was a pinhole in the core though, and I doubt the mouse nest and acorn shells didn't help matters any LOL

Did notice I don't have a drain at all, completely solid housing......

And of course NOBODY has the hi-output heater core in stock, get to order that Monday it appears. Not even NAPA online, website says it HAS to be ordered through the local store

What's the differance between the high output and regular? I asked at the NAPA I bought mine from and he said he didn't know and had never ordered one. Mine is the regular output and is doing fine even with the temp in the single digits.

You think you could cut out the fins clean it and solder it up? Just a Q but you are probalby like me and wont to fix it once.

If you go thru the hassle of fixing it you will most likely end up fixing it again. The metal is so thin that when you weld or solder it you will weaken the surronding area. Years ago that's what we did but now any more.

The only differences I saw between the standard and the hi-output was the sizing. The "standard" was a tad smaller.

The thought had crossed my mind to solder it up, but I thought the same thing: weakining the surrounding metal. Better off just to replace it and call it a day

Without a boiler tank you would never be able to get it clean enough to solder up and hold. For the low cost a replacement is worth the wait.
