Quick Transmission question

My mechanic told me that I need to replace my Torque Converter. I have a 2000 5.4L V8 2WD with 134,000 miles. He wants to rebuild my transmission for about $2,500 instead of purchasing another rebuilt transmission. That sounded fine to me but I was reading another thread that was talking about the newer transmission being better made. Should I rebuild my current transmission or should I try to get a newer (possibly better ???) rebuilt transmission instead? I'm not sure what kind of price difference there will be.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!

If he knows what he's doing he will rebuild it to the newer specs.

I agree with Mark, rebuild your tranny with a new or reman torque & the builder will upgrade clutches, sprags & hard parts to todays standards.Dont forget to flush out the cooler & get a written guarantee,Gigger

Great! That's what I was hoping for. I'll probably look into doing that next week. Thanks again!
