WHY!?!?!?$$$ headstuds

So I was looking at prices for headstuds, and was shocked at the price.
First, how come the 6.9 studs are under 300 and the 7.3 are sometimes close to double that.
Second, how can they be 4x the cost of my 460 studs.

HolyMoly
I'd like to have them shortly after I get my 120 tune from Jody but it's looking like I'm going to have to keep my fun times to a minimum.
I'll be calling for a custom sled pull tune later this year as well, and I want to have the supporting mods for that also. I'll be doing some intank mods and fuel supply later when weather permits outside work.

Where is the best place for headstuds, and which brand do you all prefer.

Beans has them for 364.95 they are ARP Beans Diesel Performance - 94-03 7.3L Power Stroke ARP Main stud kit (Powered by CubeCart)
I have no idea why they are so cheap there. Everyone else is right in the 600 dollar range.

What are your plans for upgraded turbos? Unless you're going 40+psi, you really don't need 'em.

Its just a supporting mod really. I dont like my stuff to come undone.
Im running 30psi on the stock turbo and 80e tune (27-28 consistantly) I will more then likely get the 38r when I can find one cheaper then the normal price, and more then likely run that one to its max for a while.
I also have had my eyes open for a set of hybrids and singleshot stage anything for a good price. Planzz for sure, but it will happen soon I hope.

I was also thinking about porting my stock turbo exhaust housing some, smooth out the casting and such, and then build a compound turbo setup. I like the spool from the stock unit, and using the stock one I can keep the pressure ratio in the happy zone and still pump out the ponys safely.

This spring/summer ill be doing fuel pressure gauge, oil temp gauge, water injection, larger IC, regulated return, large fuel pickup, 20micron prefilter/2micron secondary fuel/water separator setup with filter gauge, holley prepump (w/return regulator to not deadend it) bosch hp fuel pump (if i dont do an aeromotive unit)
What other cool stuff should I add??

Could have to do with the fact that there are 36 of them on the 7.3 and 20 on the 460. Still doesn't quite explain the nearly 4x cost of them. Just did a quick search on Ebay and found head studs ranging from $529.99 to $844.50. That's quite a price swing for the exact same thing.

It's b/c the 6.9 does not see high boost levels. The map pressure in the head of a 6.9 will never be anywhere near a 7.3 pushing 40-50 lbs of boost w/ an H2e or other turbo..

I wouldn't worry unless you go H2e or a 38r with hybrids.. If you aren't pushing huge fuel w/ that 38r then you don't need to worry.. you will take the 38r out of it's efficiency map long before you need studs.

The only reason you would need studs is if you push 37-40#s on a day to day deal... Otherwise the factory headbolts are fine.

When you upgrade to a larger turbo you are also getting a larger exhaust housing, which will improve your backpressure numbers as well...
