I thought about a huge side pipe but the stack my dad is making just wouldnt look good there, i took some five inch tube i had that is PVC and held it up there with some straps, looked like *** and just wouldnt look good. That and it would get its *** kicked by road debris. The stack will look good, sound good, and not get beaten by rocks. I found a tube 4 in 4 out muffler tha ti will install if it is too crazy but it might need it with how short mine will be.
Would last me about one day if I used it and I hate those stupid already flat tires.
My wife could not even get by with something that low, might as well have a town car.
I plan to do the lift this summer. I made all the blocks out of 3"schudule 40 a couple years ago and made up the bolts. I was gonna do it last year but the rian kept coming and I had to drive instead of ride lol. Yea my truck is n/a right now but I plan to turbo it (I am almost half way on the wieght loss bet for those that remember that). I figure that when I do roal coal I can smoke out both sides of I75 lol. Warozz check on what shipping would be for those stacks, Wreckinball, the flex pipe would be connect between the short down pipe and the one going out to the side. Since they would be hung off the body I thought they might hit when the engine torques. As far as the high sound level I love the way it roars when I get on it. I always used burned out glasspacks on my hotrods also lol.
Warning: N/A straight pipes are loud! Actually, they are obnoxious when you put the engine under load: climbing a hill, towing, etc. Almost sounds like a loud rapping...
I had 2.5" true duals running into stock replacement mufflers on each side, and they were still horrible sounding under load. At idle and light throttle, it sounded great though! It had more power than my current rig with stock restrictive exhaust, but the sound was unbearable for me.
You may be used to it with your glasspacked hot rods.
I dont have issues with the straight pipe at all, it is just everyone else. God forbid i have to come home late at night, man i could wake the neighbor's neighbors!! haha. I found those tube style straight through magnaflows come in 3" and 4" so i just need to decide where i want to put it. My dad has cut metal on the stack so we are about a week out! Gotta get going myself on getting it through the bed! Any idea on the best method. I have a sawzall with some extreme metal blades so if i mark it, drill out a large center bore and then cut around with the sawzall i should be good finishing it with the dremel and my metal drum. Should it have some room around it? Anything work best to seal around it or leave a small gap?
They used a torch to cut my bed, but on my 85 I used a combination of a sawzall and skillsaw. You want to leave 1-2" around the pipe for movement and to let water drain and possibly leaves from piling up next to it in the bed.
