Hi all, newbe here to the forum. Got a question, I am removing my 460 engine to put in a one that does not eat 1qt of oil every 100 miles. Anyways, the upper intake won't come off the lower. I removed 4 bolts and cannot find any others, even looked under the IAC and I can't figure it out. Put some pressure on it with a pry bar and still no give.
I don't see where the other two could be unless they are in the actual plenum, and I have no idea how one would get to them. There is literally nothing visible other than the 4 bolts at the base of the upper plenum.
Well, that thing is NOT coming off. I stood on it and used a wrecking bar to try and pry it off. It just sat there and laughed at me. Someone must have JB Welded that sucker or something. I guess I don't really need to get it off that bad. Not like it is going to leak being sealed like that. LOL
I know its not a 460 but on my 302 with only 600 miles on it since the rebuild i had to take the upper plenum off and I thought I was going nuts trying to get it off. After beating on it with a rubber mallet and prying on it I ended up just getting pissed off, climbed up in the engine bay and yanked on the damned thing and it finally popped off....Have you tried PB blaster or something of the like on it? That may help loosen it up
