I had my third remote starter put in yesterday as a result of a failure and obsolesence of replacement modules. This puts me over 20 hours of killing time waiting for these guys to fix problems. At the conclusion of a 6 hour sitting yesterday, the remotes wouldn't take the program and they said I'd have to come back next week. I'm ready to demand my money back and go with a dealer oem install...does anyone have an 08 or higher with the factory remote starter? Would you recommend it?
I would (like anyone) assume that the OEM remote start would be the best fit, maybe not the most value however. Any idea what brand Ziebart is using, or attmpting to use in your case? I am on deck for a remote starter and don't want to encounter similar dysfunction. In you position I would demand the money back and go with a local car stereo/aftermarket specialties joint.
Had AudioVox Pursuit...worked well with about 1/2 mile legitimate range using the larger feedback remote. The first unit was causing the computer to throw codes. The second that was just removed wouldn't accept a new remote when I smashed the old one. I think the one they put in yesterday is called a "DTI"...has rechargable remotes rather than AAA batteries that only last about a month. I'm going to give them one last shot and hope I get a wash and wax for the trouble. Plus, I'm starting to fear any extra splicing on the already tired wiring.
They ended up putting a new "Clifford" unit in. It's the first one they ever installed...it wasn't pretty but it is working. The obvious downside I see with it is a kmart quality remote...flimsy.
let us know if the new system creates any problems...
Did they give you a reason for the issues you were having or did they simply just try a different brand hoping it would not do the same thing?
i am sitting in the waiting area at ziebart right now...here for the fourth time on this clifford install. the remote start is not playing nice with the factory security system. the manager just made light of the situation by asking if i should be put on their payroll since i have been spending so much time here...talk about an instant disgruntled employee!!! i'm at a loss.
