Question on the oil gauge in my 94 Splash 4.0. Went to drive it today for the first time in 3 weeks. About a mile from home noticed the gauge starting to drop, pull over shut off truck and take a look. No leaking oil and plenty in the engine. Start it back up and still see nothing. Gauge is all the way down, but no check oil light on. So i go back home to switch vehicle's, on the way there the gauge goes back to normal and seemed to stay.
So i am thinking the gauge is acting up. How would i go about checking it to see if it is going out. thanks
If the lifters were not making a racket you probably just need to replace the oil sender. About 6 bucks at any parts store.
As far as I know the sender is a simple on/off switch & if you pull the wire off of the sender & ground it to the block your gauge should read in the center.
