So, looks like ONLY the 360 had the retarded set (no pun intended)
I just looked up 360/390 timing sets on Napa online and they list 390's with two different part numbers as well, with '73/'74 being the divide, the very same as the 360's...

'73 360/390 both list the same timing set #203012 $31.99 (straight up)

'74 360/390 both list the same timing set #203021 $37.99 (retarded)

That's very weird. I remember going on NAPA and it being that the 390 was all the same. Maybe they changed something.

Just checked RockAuto.com (one of our sponsors) and Sealed Power shows pretty much the same division. 390 too.

SCREW IT - just get a 3-keyway aftermarket Cloyes and install it "straight up"

Is there anyway to tell if the timing set is retarding without pulling the timing cover off?

hey if you want a perfect carb for your situation i would recommend a demon 650 its easy as hell to tune and is easy to adapt to alterations for your engine .as for the intake to make the most of it check to see what your heads are rated for if they are only rated for a 2v application you can still put them on your just not gonna get the fun you would from havin 4v heads good luck
