I noticed to day while under my hood, that about half of the wires to the driver side 9 pin connector have cracks and splits in them enough to where you can see the copper. What does it take to replace them, and how much do they run for new ones?thanks
i would imagine that Clay or Ed could hook you up with a new harness. You can always try to R&R them but it would be risky to troubleshoot a problem later if the repair work didn't hold.
I had the same problem a few months ago. Get some new valve cover gaskets with the UVC harnesses. Replace all that junk while you're at it. I even replaced my glow plugs even though they weren't giving me any problems. You also need a repair kit that includes the external connectors with pigtails.
Cut the master harness back far enough that you eliminate all the bad stuff. Splice in the new pigtail harness, one wire at a time so that you don't get them mixed up. I just used the butt type crimp connectors like you can get anywhere. I covered up the wad of connectors with some of that plastic, flexible split loom stuff (NAPA sells it by the foot) and zip tied it all down tight. Haven't had any trouble since.
When I was researching my problem, I read that Ford doesn't sell the external connectors with pigtails so you'll have to go aftermarket. I believe they sell a connector repair kit with a new plug and pins for terminating the wires, but if your wires are fried they want you to buy a new master harness.
do u have any info on were you got your stuff from?thanks

I made a tool that connects to the Valve cover harness. makes it easy to to test the GP's and Injectors. Searching and searching trying to find the external connectors. Chris pointed me in the right direction and i ordered them from there.

I ordered mine from a place called Pensacola Fuel Injection, mainly because they're just a few hours away and I was in a hurry. I've seen some bad things posted here about the poor quality of their rebuilt injectors, but their service was great. I accidently ordered some duplicate parts off their website and they called and credited me immediately. I'd order these kinds of parts from them again without hesitation.
Link to product here. $79 per side for pretty much everything you need. Yes, its made in China but mine is holding up fine. I also saw some repair kits on eBay at the time.
