This past summer I had bought an '04 that was the exact same truck I've got now, the only difference was it was solid white with no painted bottom, and the interior leather was grey rather than tan. Other than that, it wast he exact same thing. When I bought my '03, the dealer told me if I wanted to have my straight pipes transfered over then he wouldn't mind (he likes to keep his trucks stock for sales).
So the 4" straight pipes on my '03 is the same thing as the straight pipes on my '04. So why did my '04 make a very loud and obnoxious popping sound at WOT (didn't necessarily have to be WOT, just laying into it good), but my '03 won't do it no matter what? Was there some difference in the '03 and '04 engines that would effect this? Also, my '03 whistle is WAY louder than my '04's whistle at any throttle position. Why would this be?
I think the 03 turbo is different than the 04 turbo. I read this somewhere on this forum. Many guys have said the same thing about the 03 whistle being much louder than the 04's and newer!

Yeah one of my friends has an '06 with straight pipes and he said his whistle isn't as loud as mine but his pops when he gets on the throttle, and he said that one of his friend's '03 is just like mine and it whistles a lot louder and doesn't pop either. Kinda sucks...i'd rather have the fun pop...its fun to mess with obnoxious people by stomping the gas next to their car and letting it echo off. The first time I did it in my '04 it scared the crap out of me and I thought I was blowing something.
