Unhappy Odometer

Hey all, well my trip odometer recently decided to stop turning, not one of the best things, especially when ya add to that i got a sunken fuel tank float. The main odometer still is kicking but now i gotta remember what milage i filled up at, well atleast for now. Anything i should look for when i finally getting around to pulling off the dash? Or are these things generally terminal? Its an 85, with a tac, if that makes any difference.

The tach doesn't matter - the trip odo is integrated into the speedo head. I expect you'll find that one gear didn't drop back into place, but you might find that the teeth have dry-rotted off it. I'd just push the button a few more times until it starts turning again. If it turns out to be shot, they're not hard to find in junkyards, but you usually have to buy the whole cluster. I may have one somewhere...
