1979 f150 fuel problems
The fuel tank is empty and engine stalled. When i tried to put gas in, the fuel start pooring out of the overfill. Looking into the spout of the tank, fuel is all the way at the top? I have no idea. Gage on empty and I can't put fuel in? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm wondering if there is some restriction in the fill tube or the vent is plugged. I would try and run a cable down into the tank to check if it's clear and find the vent and see if I could blow through it. You sure the tank is empty? Maybe the fuel gauge broke? Do you have 2 tanks? Check at the carb and see if the accelerator pump is squirting fuel. If you ran it right out of fuel and then put gas in it they can be hard to get started. It helps to pour a little fuel in the carb. Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the reply! Turned out that it was sitting on a slight angel and the pick up was not getting any fuel. Never would of thought. Got it on more level angel/ground and put fuel in. Started right up. Learned my lesson, I'll start heading to the gas station earlier.
