Trashed My Motor???

Well I think I did it this time and I am pissed. About a week ago I forgot to replace the plug on the HPOP rez and I drove it till all the oil gushed out. It started to run real ruff about a 1/4 mile from home so I limped it home. I had to add 9 quarts of oil and it started right up and runs fine but now I am using about 1 quart of oil every 200 miles. I used to only use about two quarts every 5k so something got screwed up but what?

Not to be mean... But how did you forget to do that???

The engine should had quit before anything could have been damaged. Howoever, since it was gushing out of the fill hole I'm not sure this is the case.

What were you temps when you limped it home?

Are you burning it or leaking it?

I was in a fing rush as always. People driving me crazy with gotta do this gotta do that thats how I forgot to put the blasted plug in. As far as temps go not sure but FWIR after I dumped the oil back the temp was low and I don't think the temps ever got up to normal. Just went for a 10 minute drive to pick up my nephew from work.

As far as leaks they don't seem to be worse than before. Been keeping it parked over a piece of cardboard in my driveway and oil leaks seem to be the same. I am getting no smoke out the exhaust so I am totally confused as to where the oil is going. Like I said the truck seems to be running strong so where the heck is my oil going??????

Take the lid of your filter housing off and look at the colour of the fuel in there if it is dark blue thats where your oil is going.

also have a look at your tailpipe see if it is wet or coked up more than normal, it could be going through your turbo you may have damaged the bearings in the turbo and messed up the seal in there.

Tail pipe was bone dry just a lot of black soot. As for the fuel it might be ok but I have used the red stuff and then there is the brownish optilube stuff and the there is the being colour blind thing so all I can say is I think I am ok as far as oil in fule goes.

The reason i say IPR is cause I think mine is leaking, but i cannot tell except for the oil on the front of the motor now.

you dont notice while it sits, it doesn't leak anymore than it always has.
But i think it does more when its runnign.

i would look real hard at the HPOP gasket if there is oil hitting the IPR. my HPOP gasket started leaking and it looked like it was from the ipr, but was just seeping out of that side of the gasket. the gasket looked perfectly fine when i pulled it out too.

No other leaks that I know of. But you have to rember I just had two gallons of oil dump all over the motor and it is still soaked. I was thinking the same as Taylan about it just pissing when it is running but I guess I am going to have to find the time to clean up the mess real good before I look for leaks. All I can say now is that I only leave a dime size puddle in my driveway in the same spot as always. The strange thing is this all happened after the mess with the HPOP plug.

Thanks for the input
