hey guys...
i just got my 4" MBRP exhaust from the greart Clay...
anyway...had a pretty easy time with the install by myself, could have used some more hands, but i got it. when for a test drive last nite and it runs and sounds awesome, but im hearing a hiss sound. is that normal? i have a 6637 intake filter, but obviously the old exhaust was stock. everything seems tight...any help would be appreciated...i got the PMS NOW....
chris
Drive it for a few times and get it up to temperature and retighten all your clamps. You may have a slight leak but with the 6637 intake, you might also be hearing your engine breathing better. I retighten everything about 3 times in the few months after I installed my exhaust including the band clamp on the turbo.
thanks for the info...ill do that. just didnt want to do anything to damage the motor or trans...im new to the turbo diesels and diesels in general. thanks again...
getting ready to install 4"BBRP as well on a 2000 f250 4x4 7.3. should I delete the muffler? I live in Florida, so there are no inspections at this time. New to forum

I agree, but keep it handy. A straight pipe truck does sound good, but you might want to quieten it down after a while. I would have mine straight piped, but then I would never get my wife to ride in it. Of course some days that would be a good thing!
Thank you- I am mostly interested in fuel mileage. The whisle sound is pretty cool too. What effect does the muffler play with fuel mileage. I already have a cold air set up. I have caught the mod bug, but as long as I tell myself I will get better mileage and my truck will run more efficiantly I have an excuse.
Any correlation between your muffler and mileage is minimal. In fact, deleting the muffler may hurt your mileage by forcing you to hit the throttle harder than you normally would just to hear the engine! With a 4" exhaust it's mostly about which sounds the best to you.
