Thank you for the fast reply. the truck is in good shape, i got it from a guy that intended on restoring it, but never got around to it. it has 67000 original miles on it. i bought it for 600 dollars without an engine. i put a 390 in it and it runs and drives great. i wish i would have found a 4x4 but settled for a good looking 2wd instead. glad some one replied so fast.

Oh anytime man, it's rare for me to see or even hear of 350 chassis for this gen, your lucky man.
I've got a not so beautiful to the eyes but gorgeous to the ears 76 F150.
I hope you intend to be posting pics of this beauty!
wyoexplorer how did you figure out it was the 659th one off the line i would like to figure that out on my truck.
It's not even close to being the 659th F350. 11,269 F350's were assembled in 1974.
Your truck was assembled in August 1974 towards the end of the 1974 production run. Its serial number is V00659, the last 1974 serial number was V20,000, so...
If anything...it's one of the last F350's assembled. The same sequence of serial numbers were used on ALL the trucks (not just the F Series), Bronco's and Econolines.
Ok i got ya, thanks for all the help. do you have any idea of the # of super camper specials that were made from '73 to '77 when they dropped the "SUPER"? (i belive it was in 77 correct me if im wrong).

The Super portion of the name was dropped after the 1976 model run ended.
You will have to contact Kevin Marti @ martiauto.com to find out how many 1973/76 F350 Super Camper Special's were assembled.
There is a fee for this service.
Marti has all the FoMoCo records that pertain to 1967/79 Ford & L/M vehicles, Ford has none of this info any longer.
In the late 1980's, Ford was gonna throw all this info into the TRASH!
Marti (a Mustang nut located in Phoenix AZ), found out about Ford's plans and got all of it.
Since FoMoCo has none of this info any longer, when ppl contact them for info...they have to get it from Marti!
I am addicted to Super Camper Specials.
In '77 Ford dropped the "Super" off of "Camper Special" so "Super Camper Specials" were F-350 Camper Specials.
The reason they did this was to not confuse the buyer they were buying a "Super-Cab" Camper Special, which is a entirely different truck, because at the time they had only released the Super Cab two years prior ('74).
Got any more pictures of your truck?
Please post them if you do...
There's a picture of my truck in my signature, just wait a couple seconds, and it will change over.
Below is a picture attached to this post of my truck.
(Note: NumberDummy, See that big thick tint across the windshield? That's what I was talking about,,,I know you will read this post so I thought I would just bring it to your attention)
My truck isn't exactly nice.
It needs a little bit of body work. (Nothing that can be done with some time & quality effort.)
We bought the truck on December 31st 2006, I was 12 at the time, the way it was parked you couldn't see the passenger side of the truck and we looked and saw the space on the inside of the bed and we thought it had a toolbox, when we pulled out we looked closer and found out it was a whole space just for the spare tire.
The 19 year old kid we got the truck from thought it was a F-250. (I am still confused to this day how he could think that when it says:
F-350
Super
------
Camper
Special
on the side of the truck...
This truck has had a 390 swapped in.
It originally came with one. Someone swapped in one with a special cam in it, because the FE in there now came out of something with a automatic. My truck is a standard, and has always been. This 5,000 pound red rusty Super Camper Special (Abbreviated SCS) will chirp the tires in every gear.
The person who swapped in the FE in there now put on a air cleaner and air cleaner cover from a 400 2V, which could be from pretty much anything, a car, a truck, or whatever.
Nice story, i wish i had one. i found this one on craigslist for 600 bucks without an engine, called the guy looked at it, bought it. it then sat in the yard for a year until i built a 390 for it, once i installed it it needed exhuast manifolds to be driveable. so it sat until i got the right ones about a week ago. i just got them on and took it for its first real test drive in a couple years, and it drives great.
