i dont have a 4-speed because it came with an automatic, and because im not a huge fan of wasting my money by "leaven rubber behind". its just not for me. i might put a 4 speed in it at some point though.

VIN question
Hey guys, sorry to jump in on this thread, however I too had a VIN question about my truck. I have a 73 F350 Super Camper Special, VIN # is F35YRR50550 . I bought the truck from the original owner's son (owner passed away) and was planning on restoring it. Plans have changed and now I have to sell it and was hoping to know more information from the VIN number in order to tell interested buyers more about the truck. It is completely original right down to the rubber on the tires, really love the truck and don't want to sell it but have to. Any info from the VIN number would be great. Thanks everyone.

F35 = F-350 Two Wheel Drive (Super Camper Specials are always 2WD, They didn't come in 4x4s)
Y = 360ci-V8 with a 2-Barrel Carburetor.
R = San Jose, CA Assembly plant.
50550 = Build Sequence Number.
(My truck also has an FE and was assembled in San Jose, CA)

T is the COLOR code, not the BODY code. The OP didn't post the BODY code.

C6 is correct, but...G is the TRANS code for all A/T's thru 1978. One has to know which A/T is used with what engine.
1979 was the FIRST year the C4 ( J ) & C6 ( K ) had their own specific TRANS codes.

Color Code T: 1965/72 Passenger Cars, Trucks, Bronco's, Econolines: Candy Apple Red. Ford part number AL81-2008-B.
Since the part numbers are different, Candy Apply Red is not the same color as Red.
