D load tires with camper

I just bought the truck that is in my sig, traded my 95 F350 crew cab for it. The old truck had 265/75-16 E rated tires, this one has 315/75-16 D rated tires. The camper I have is an Eagle Cap 8 foot, but it weighs over 3k loaded. I am wondering if I have enough tire. there is a ton of tread left, I'm wondering if I should see how much I can get for a trade down at Les Schwab and get a set of E rated tires.

Anyone run a camper with oversize D rated tires?

Thanks

The 315D's appear to have a similar load rating to the 265E's. The smartest thing to do is weigh your loaded truck. Your primary concern is the weight of the rear axle. Check the tires for load rating and compare to your actual weight. You may be overloaded.

I had a '93 standard cab 4x4 diesel w/265 E's and found that I was maxed (for the tires) with a fifthwheel pin weight of 2700 lbs.

Good luck

A second on actually weighing your rig to answer your question. Only takes a minute on a truck scale anywhere they weigh big rigs.

I'll do that, there's a weigh station less than five miles from my house. I'm hoping it will work fine as is, I hate buying tires
