Tires again! Load Ratings

I stopped by a tire shop today to get prices and the guy told me to get Remington Mud Brutes 285/75/16 but I looked online and they have a load rating of D. I thought we had to have an E and can you even get that size tire in an E rating? The guy quoted me $185 a tire which I already know is a rip-off.

Keep looking. E's are preferred but you can use D's provided the weight range is correct. Also depends on your truck's usage. Heavy towing? Use E's.

Load rating D tire max inflation is 65 psi. Load rating E tires are 80 psi.

I keep my fronts at 70 psi and rears at 65psi. If you have D's you couldn't go this high and I think the lower pressure would hurt fuel mileage.

There are some D's that allow for a higher load range and E's that have a lower one. Each tire is different...... E's will allow you a higher PSI. I have D's on mine......and I tow a tow haul..I would love E's if I could fine em in my size.....

Look online at tirerack.com or americastire.com they have great pricing.....
