so a couple months ago my bud picked up a clean idi with an auto for $300. now that he has had some time to dick with it he can't get the motor to turn. he is going to just part it unless i want the whole truck.
so................
my question is, do you all think i should pick it up for a possible re-build of the motor?
plans would befor the 6.9
arp head studs = 250 ish
good head gaskets = dunno
injector pump rebuild(baby moose?)= get what you pay for
type4 matched injectors and cam=285.00 +189.00
so......................
a motor that has been siezed/locked do you guys think for 3 bills i should try to build MY ultimate idi?
after it is in the truck i have a friend that builds headers..........
was thinking twins
edit now that i'm sober
what do you guys think....
2 years ago the truck blew a head gasket and was parked. now we cannot get the motor to turn now. breaker bar didn't do anything. do you guys think it will be savable? if so, what kind of beast would i be looking at with......
cam
injectors
baby moose
head studs
and mebby later on down the road a turbo
2 years in dmv fees, late dmv fees, weight fees, late weight fees, chp fees, chp late fees, and the list just keeps going. it was supposedly on a non op but dmv said no.
Man that is crazy here if you claim it wasn't running when you go to get the tags those fees are dropped, and they are automatically dropped if the vehicle is sold.
yotee...not sure if it still works, but when I lived in cali (6 years ago), reg fees would age out at the 3 year mark....go to regiister it at 3 1/2 years after the last reg expired and it would come back clean.
Your other option if you want to get it on the road now is to title it out of state, wait at least 9 months, and bring it back....if you go this route you MUST wait at least 9 months
he is willing to give me the truck for what he paid, $300. i need to do head gaskets on mine, and would rather put together a nice non leaking motor. i don't care to put the truck on the road. i was a little drunk last night when i posted,
what do you guys think....
