How tough and expensive is it to change out the rear window on these trucks? I have a solid back glass and a local guy has one with a sliding window for $50. Can I reuse the seal? My uncle does auto glass work but I can't get a hold of him to ask? Will I need a new seal/gasket or can I just reuse mine?
I was also gonna post the same question. I have a local guy with a slider he wants to sell me for $50. If I can get it in for less than $100 I'm gonna do it, if not I'll pass on it.
I would spring for a new seal too. I swapped mine for a power slider and reused the seal, it's leaked most of the winter, some silicone sealed it up just waiting for warm weather to change it out
I used to work at an auto glass shop as a tech. I would definitly replace the seel. Anytime that I have used silicone around leaking glass and metal it has caused rust. When it gets warm and you replace that seel make sure if you have any rust around the inside edge of the window frame (on the body) that you put some kind of paint seeler to stop the rust from getting any bigger by cutting off it's oxygen. In cases where it has been really bad sand loose rust off make surface smooth prime and use a little multi-stranded fibre glass to make nice smooth seeling surface for the new or used window. If I remember correctly I think it is an M seel tape. I have heard of people using urethane but would not recommend.

Where did you get a power slider? With the crew cab, that would be great!

Bought it out of a newer truck that had been wrecked. Pictures here if your interested - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ar-slider.html It's awesome being able to operate the window without stopping to get out.
