ok i got my 95 f250 diesel with manual tranny i want to change the fluid in it what goes in it ??? atf fluid or gear oil and what brand should i go with ???? how hard is it can i do it at home ??? where is the drain plug and fill up plug because i would like to check the fluid too
i just used mobil 1 syenthic atf and i found if you take the gear shifter off it's you can just dump the fluid in it's only 4 phillips screws and 4 allen head bolts pretty easy
Your owners manual says synthetic AUTOMATIC transmission fluid. You did right. You never use MANUAL transmission fluid or gear oil in the ZF transmissions.
Allot of folks run MTL in these trannys. Granted it a little thicker than there D4 or high temp ATF and not recommended. But in the warmer climates it's OK. In colder areas I would think twice. The Redline High Temp ATF is perfect for this application and the transfer case. No comparison to any other fluid I've used over the years. Schaffers is probably comparable but I've never run any of their products.
