As I was driving today. I was sitting at a stop sign and the truck coughed ( best way to explain it ) at idle. then the CEL came on I proceeded to go through the intersection and as the RPM's climbed the CEL went out. Everything feels like it was running the same as it has been before. And as I was driving down road later the light came on again ( no cough) and stayed on for awhile then went off again. It did this a few more times after that. I took out my code reader and gave me a code of P1280. I cleared the code and drove some more and checked it again and same code came up again. Anyone with a clue???
Thanks
Check engine oil level and make sure it's not due for a change. Program the truck back to stock to rule out the edge. Unplug the ICP connector at idle and see if it makes a noticeable difference. Inspect the inside of the plug for oil or the sensor for leaks.
I would check your icp wires as i have seen the insulation become brittle and flake off. a cam sensor will randomly throw a cel as well. your ICP is on the drivers side head towards the front of the truck. 3 wires coming out of it
Yesterday as I driving I still had the same problem with the CEL. Today I disconnected my new HPOP gauge which I installed about a week ago. The gauge was working perfectly no problems but here is the strange part, when I disconnected it from the IPS where it was pigtailed into the CEL never came on and no problems. My question is would the new gauge and or wiring cause the CEL? Is it better to connect the gauge to the IPR instead of the IPS???
what kind of gauge is this? i assume you have it pigtailed into the icp sensor? check for corrosion at the joint and also check the icp connector for worn out pins, both will cause the concern

I had the same problem, but mine usually occured once I was going down the highway. It turned out the be the ICP wires. I had prevsiouly wired the 10k mod in and the soder job did not hold up.
