I've been thinkin if trying the same thing on my truck the past few days -- just scared that since I live in the rust belt that with my luck - I'll end up snapping the bolt trying to loosen it and then really be up crapcreek ! Any idea how to extract that if it happens ?? not to mention then find a replacement mount to put in the broken one... It's my DD so I really don't want to have it out of commission

Does anyone know manufacturer / part #'s for ordering body mounts for a 2000 Ex 4x4 ? I think I'm just going to swap them out and see. Either swapping all of them or in the very least the #2's under the front seat area... I tried looking at some sites like Summit etc.. and I just can't find anything for the Ex - maybe I'm just looking in the wrong spots ...

I tried looking for a post that I read on here about the Day Star mounts that someone posted. I think the F250-350 body mounts work. In that kit I think only 10 mounts are in it and the x have twelve if I'm correct.

I have had the same issue, I replaced both front body mount bolts with upgraded ones from Ford (not sure how they are an upgrade, but was told it would work). Noise went away for about a week then was back. Tried to blast the area around the body mount when it was loose, this also worked...for about a week. Have not tried to replace the body mounts themselves. May give this a try soon. Also, the noise in my 02 seems to be almost non-existent during the colder winter months, then in the spring its back. Just my experience.

Most of the time that noise is coming from the spring shackle and upper bushing... If you pull out the upper bushing housing you will find its probably been rubbing on the shackle...Try some spray lube on the top of the shackle....Ive had this problem in both my 04 F250 and my 00 Excurson and replacing that cast bushing housing seem to fix it.....

Its a bad design, the sleeve that runs thru the rubber only sticks out about 1/16 (maybe less) of an inch on each side of the cast housing, I have also seen guys grind another 1/8 off of each side of that housing to give it a bit more clearance that is if the bushing is still good....

Hope this helps!!!!

Are you referring to where to the location where the front leaf spring mounts up under the the front bumper? Do you have to pull off the front bumper to get to the bushing housing?

I just fixed mine, been creaking forever. I had tried lubing them up but the creak would always come back. Mine was on the passenger side and I followed a thread from "Body Mount Replacement" and it worked. Pull back the carpet, pull out the oval shaped plug, back out the bolt and then thread it back in a half inch, bang on the top of the bolt to separate the bottom mount, if the bottom mount wont clear the spring hanger bolt then make a small cut on the side of the bottom bushing (only takes a little and I used cordless sawzall), after the bottom bushing is out you need to take about 3/16 to 1/4 inch off the hex shape metal sleeve that sticks out (use a grinder or I used cordless sawzall and it took seconds), grease it all up and put it back together! SWEET SILENCE!
