Body Mounts

Hi Everyone

I'm new to this site. I just purchased my first X and I love it!!!!!!
It does have some issues though. I have the popping and crackling
that I can feel right under my feet on the drive and passenger side.
I pretty sure it is the body mounts. I will try to loosen and lube them.
All I want to know is witch body mount kit will fit the X? I read here that the Day Star kit from the F250-350 SD would work. Any info would be appreciated.

I've got the same thing going on on my 02 E popping and noise under both sides, replaced ball joints, links, tierod ends so the only thing left is body mounts, i'll be looking to see what people come back with on this.

Hiya-same problems/attempted fixes/results here. I assume that we all just need to replace the body mounts. Is there a kit for this and where do I get it(stealership or??)? Thanks.

Is that what it is? I always assumed it was the seat making that noise.

I have the same thing going on. Its best described as a creaking noise. Almost like the sound of dry sway bar bushings.....but its not dry bushings. HA.... I tried lubing up the front body mounts still makes noise. They creak when I step on the gas or step on the brake.

It's the metal tube inside the rubber mounts that are rubbing together-they need to be shortened with a grinder to accomodate the settling rubber. There is another thread on this.

DAMN -- that's the same noise i hear in mine. It's almost like a creaking dry sway bar and a knock/rattle ( sounds like something rattling inside the fender - but you can feel the popping under the passenger side when initially driving from a standstill or slowing down to under 10 mph or so and turning ( or flexing the truck ) at the same time - or just hitting the brakes and stopping completely. Everything sounds fine and no rattle or creaking while on the freeway though -- only in low speed stop or go.

I tried tightening the body mounts under the carpeting in front of the passenger seat - but they were tight as heck already. Not sure if these should be lubed or not - don't want the truck body sliding off the frame

I always thought it may be bad springs or shackles ( either bushings in either or the springs just rubbing together too much with time ) but it may just be the body mounts ... who knows ....

same prob

mine does the same thing everytime i hit bumps it feels like the body mount is loose i took it to a suspension shop they couldnt find anything wrong i found a thread one time they said its a common prob on excursions for the bolt or something with that mount to be wrong somehow?? i pulled the carpet back and there is a oblong rubber insert you pull out and under it is a 15/16 head bolt you need a deep well socket and extension to get it out. it took it out they said to grind around the bolt and lube it up with antiseeze tighten it back up well for a week it went away i did not have the clunk anymore then it came back!! so i really want to know how to fix this it drives me nuts

2000 excursion 4wd limited
Is there a recall/bullitin on this?? i found this but it says pas side???

Yes, there are body mount kits available. You can see ads for them in off-road magazines, and they are usually made of urethane.

An off-road shop told me to take mine off, clean them up, and lube them. Much cheaper than replacing. I havent DONE it yet, but I hope to get around to it someday.
