coolant leak?

coolant leak?

so drivin down the road in my 05 6.0L with 41k miles on it and it starts blowing white smoke and temp goes up and alarms. im pretty sure its a coolant leak since the coolant was empty. is there a way to determine where its from? egr, head gaskets, etc.? dealer is sayin they have to replace the egr cooler then move on to the gaskets. is this true? lookin at alot of mula to fix especially if its one step at a time.

If the EGR is shot, it has to be fixed before the head gaskets can be checked.

You may still be under warranty with an '05...have the dealer check that

if you do not use a tuner its most likely the egr cooler.

Not necessarily.

Pull the EGR valve out and see if it's wet....there are instructions on how to do that in the tech folder sticky at the top of the page. If it's wet, your EGR cooler is shot.
