Intermittent wiper switch
They were an option begining in 1973.
The 1973-1979 modules and switches are different however. Intermittant wipers were standard on the Ranger XLT untill 1978. After 1978 it was a part of the Convenience Group. Any model could have them, including Base Models, although as an option extra.
Intermittant Wiper switch and Govenors are swappable in the following years.
1980-1983: F-100
1980-1991: F-150/F-350 and U-150 Bronco
1980-1999: F-600/F-900
Motorcraft Part Number:
Switch: SW-1572
Govenor: SW-2259
The Govenor can be marked with the following First four letters or numbers: E0TF / E4TF / E7TF / E9TF
They are plug and play, no wiring required. Just plug it in, screw the ground wire to the dash metal or steering column dash support, and enjoy.
Hope This Helps

I have an '84 F250 as well and would be interested in this... Looks like LMC has the part in stock for less than $30

Do I need anything else?

Yes, that one will work. It say's 87-91 but it will interchange 1980-1991 and work fine.
You need both 47-0668 and 47-0666 to get intermittant wipers. (Using LMC's #s)
You can go to the wrecking yard and get a good unit for a lot less.

81-F-150-Explorer, Thank you for the part #'s and model years in which the wiper switch and governor are interchangeable. This will be extremely helpful to me @ the JY tomorrow!

if U had a pic...
It's located in the vicinity of the wiper switch. Follow the wires of the wiper switch and if the truck has the intermittant option, you will come to the module.
EDIT: Jimsrebel's picture helps too.

Im kinda at a loss here with my wipers...My 84 F250 XL has factory intermmitent...When I was first looking at her, the wipers would randomly quit...and it only had high...seemed like a ground issue with the random stopping. I had a shop go over the whole truck beofre i bought it. They said it was a ground issue but the motor itself was the reason i only had high. Ive replaced the delay box from a 91 f150 from a JY and installed a new wiper switch just to make sure. And I still have the same issue. Only high speed and will stop right where you turn it off. Instead of finishing the cylce. My 88 Bronco it was just the motor itself that was bad. I dont want to be just changing parts until i find it lol. Thanks everyone
I just installed the intermittent switch and relay into my 75 f100. It was a piece of cake; pretty much plug and play. The motor even sounded stronger as if the contacts in the old switch were resisting the flow of electric or something. I thought I would throw a couple tidbits of pertinent information out there for anyone willing to read...
First there are more trucks in the junkyards with these harnesses than there are dent sides on the road. Mine cost $10 at pick n pull; this could vary a bit depending on how big a ***** your cashier is. Folks are free to spend their dollars as they see fit but there are no supply issues on used harnesses. As with anything electric, if it doesnt initially give you any trouble it will likely give you years of reliable service.
Because it is a 'grounded' unit, you need to ground it to test it. I was thinking there was something wrong as only one speed initially worked as i tested it prior to completely installing it. Just something to keep on mind.
Since someone asked, the relay is mounted right next to the fuse box. It has a small mounting bracket you will want to grab so you can secure the relay somewhere by the switch. My f100 had plenty of room and places to choose from on this.
Becareful in removing the screws from the relay box; the heads seemed to break off pretty easily. A little finess with some vicegripes worked to unthread the remaining studs and i simply replaced with stainless screws.
All in all this was simpler than i expected. Only thing left is to reinstall a washer system which i understand this switch powers as well.

If you used the 1980/up type switch and govenor in your 1975, you will have to switch one wire around in your trucks harness connector to make the washer pump work. More info on this in the 1973-1979 forum.
The 1980/up switches were bolted to the dash panel right around the wiper switch area.

I don't yet have a washer fluid tank or pump but will want to get one in the near future. I would appreciate any further insight to this as well.
Specifically, what colors are the wires that need switched?
I like things being broken down Barney style. Thanks!
