96 trans swap

i've been hunting around this forum for a while now and i can find bits and pieces but i still have questions. i have a 96 F250 4X4 460 C6 with 3.55 gears. i'm looking in to the ZF 5 swap. I know i need a bunch of parts but what i can't find is if i can reuse my rear axle or not. i can't find what rear gears are stock for the ZF 5 460 combination. From what i've read here some say i can reuse and some say i need to replace both my drive shafts. I'm also curious about the wiring aspect. I've started combing through the wire diagrams for my truck and am not sure how much of a difference there is. I also noticed that the manual truck ECM and the auto ECM have different part numbers. being as my C6 is not computer controlled i can't figure out what the difference is. I also can't figure out where the clutch difference is. one has the standard external slave and some have an internal slave. I need to pull my bed in the spring to address a major rust issue i'm having with my rear frame so i would like to do both at once. sorry to keep repeating threads but like i said i can't seem to find the answers i need.

You do not need to change the rear axle. You may need to change the front and rear driveshafts.
As your C6 is not computer controlled you should not have to do anything at all with the computer as it will not know what trans you have.
There is a good thread here showing a pic of everything you would need for the swap. a search may find it.
Plenty of guys here have gone from auto to ZF5 so I`m sure you will get plenty of help.
By the way, you go know you will need a ZF from another 460 and that a diesel one will not fit?

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/869833-zf5-swap.html Here is a thread with a pic of what you would need.
Forgot to say that the 460 and diesel ZF5 use external slave cylinders while the small block uses a concentric one (internal.).

fantastic, the slave cylinder information helps a great deal. like i said before i know most of what i need as far as parts but i still don't know what gears the ZF5 uses for the differential stock. any ideas? i believe 3.55 but could be 4.10. not sure. can anyone with a f250 460 ZF5 combo measure the drive shafts for me? that will answer that question.

Here's my parts list.
Transmission
flywheel
dust shield
starter
clutch kit
clutch master/slave cylinders
clutch line
clutch fork
pedal assembly
shifter assembly
floor plate with shifter hole
crossmember
ECC

going to assume the drive shafts will work. Reusing my 1356 T/C.

Did i miss anything?

Seems you have covered everything except you do not need a computer.

i know ford has different part numbers for the computers for a manual or automatic. i'm assuming the only real difference is idle speed is lower on the manual.

By `96 most trucks would have had the E4OD, which is computer controlled. Yours, I would say, is unusual. So the computer for controlling both the engine EFI and the E4OD trans together would be completely different.
You should have no issues keeping the original ECU.

oh no they list a third number for E4OD models. i'm pretty sure i can get away with using the stock ECM but i might as well grab the right one while i'm at the bone yard.
