If you have any questions on products PM me, i do custom stereo systems and am currently seeking certifications for installs. I have about $3000 worth of equipment in my F150 because i compete with it.
that is about 4x what some of our trucks are worth!!!!
hope you have some budgeted for security.
that would not last a month in cleveland.
or a week in san francisco, first time you parked on the street for dinner, it would be gone.
I paid $800 for my truck haha. I actually dont have much security other than the door locks but smart bumping = safe system, i dont bump near my home, places where my truck will be unattended or out of my sight and all my equipment is secured more than most peoples. I am running 3600 RMS watts to a single 12" ported tuned to 37.5 all stuffed behind 2 Bronco bucket seats powered by an Alpine Ida-x303 plus 1/0 wiring, competition batteries, powermaster 200 amp alt.
I am buying an extended or crew cab F250 to run a bigger setup and security will be a major, major point in that truck because my sponsers want stickers on my vehicle.
with me home in summer during mid day, truck locked, window broke and stereo out in 45 seconds.
i almost caught the guy, did get plate and he was arrested and a year later he had to pay for stereo and damages per court order.
even if you THINK it will not happen to YOU, you are INCORRECT.
I know it can happen but i do my best to prevent it. They wouldnt be able to do it at my house so they would have to do it in another place, thats when im the most alert. Congrats on getting the guy and reimbursed.
locks only keep honest people out.... <--- u can quote me on that.... just because u have an alarm doesnt mean someone isnt going to steal all ur stuff trust me if they want it they are gunna get it unless u replace all ur windows with steel plates so they cant bust them out lol >.< 3k for radio stuff thats crazy.... bet it sounds good tho

Mine is more to get loud, i have an SPL system for competitions, it sounds good to me when its not at full tilt but im sure some SQ guys could pick it apart. We all have our hobbies i guess lol, i see a lot of you guys with way more than $3000 in your suspension and stuff, its a way for people to make their truck their own with their individual tastes and im glad you're not one of the people that would call me an idiot for putting it all in the stereo. ( and believe me, i love lifted trucks but i have parents who dont really like em too much hahaha, im only 17 )
When I was 17 I built stereos for all my friends rigs that were loud as hell, at 21... I'm that friggen SQ guy. Ran too much live sound and 2 years of custom several thousand dollar home theater installs got the best of me.
My buddies Blazer that we just finished shattered his windshield though just with 400 watts and proper box tuning. lol
I have a few of them i pull them out of all my trucks and put them in the shop. when i get rid of a truck they stay there. where are you? free if you want one.
Didn't Mythbusters prove that this couldn't happen?
It actually can happen but not untill you get up around 180 Decibals on a Term Lab meter which is world record numbers. I can guarentee that 400 watts will not blow out a windshield. You would need atleast 30,000 watts RMS to do it and i believe it was more than that for the most recent.
Edit: I just re-read what was said, and no system will "shatter" a windshield, there have been world record systems that crack windshields but they will not shatter. Most of that will come from low Freqeuncy notes. As the spectrum of bass drops in freqeuncy, the audible "loudness" gets less and the vibration gets more intense. So an example would be a 38hz tone will sound louder to the ear than a 28 hz tone but a 28hz tone will vibrate things around you more. Competition systems usually hit their peak decibal number between 41 and 60 hz and these systems have ported boxes tuned to the high 30's and higher. Most daily systems geared toward listenin pleasure and not decibal levels are tuned in the low 30's. It is a whole lot harder to hit 140dbs with your system tuned to 30hz than it is at 40hz. So with all that said, most windshields will crack because of flex given off on notes usually below 35hz and down to about 25ish where it gets almost unaudible and most subsonic filters cut them out.
