Convertible truck?

OK - I want a convertible but do not want to get rid of my old F-3.

Has anyone considered cutting the roof off and making a convertible out of their truck?

Any pictures from someone who did this?

Thanks -

That just ain't right! Hope you reconsider. Notice how Chebby bombed with their retro convertable pickup. It made the list of one of the 50 worst cars ever produced. People stayed away in droves.

I think that if I was going to remove the roof off an F100 That I would go for the slant cab over the 56...at least you could keep the vent wings and make it look somewhat reasonable. Plus the slant cab windshields are readily available with a 2 inch chop.

Another example is the Dakota convertibles -- look at one with the top up, it's a gagger

Keep your truck as it is, convertible trucks NEVER look right. Buy a vintage Mustang convertible. Why can't you have both?

I think, possibly, a convertible truck with a removable hard top, ala early Thunder Bird might work but I would think trying keep the cab square would be a real challenge. There would have to be major support to hold the back half of the cab from falling away from the cowl. I would bet the convertible truck posted by 52 Merc is a show truck and never sees the abuse of day to day driving.

Let a truck be a TRUCK, Let a convertible be a convertible,,,,, The two don't play well together.

Find some of the older Street Rodder, Rod Action and simalar magazines. They were semi popular in the 80's. Most were done with removable cloth tops. Hope this helps.

I made a "convertible" out of some random F-1 parts but I can't seem to post a pictrue on here no matter how hard I have tried.

Check out the heavy tube roll bars behind the seats, I bet they are for more than looks.
