I have a 2010 FX4 with the black cloth sport seats, and I am looking to get some covers for them. I was wondering if the fabric on the FX4 is more of a velour type, or a twill type. I like the current fabric of the seats, and wanted to find a cover that matches as close as possible. (heck, I wish I could find out the exact type and buy it and have custom covers made )
I'd say more of a twill fabric than velour, at least that's what mine looks like. Why not enjoy them as they are and get them cleaned every so often?
Yea, I am leaning in that direction in the hopes that they are tougher than they look/feel. There were 2 main reasons I was thinking of a seat cover, the really thin needle hair from my girlfriends great dane (which seems to find its way into the fabric even though he hasn't been in the truck yet), and the other reason is to just have them last. I usually keep my cars/trucks for 8-10 years. That being said, I want covers that look like they came from the ford factory.
Heres the thing....if your going to keep it for 8-10 years you're just keeping the seats in good shape for the next guy??? Save the money you'd spend on seat covers and just figure you'll get 100-200 bucks less on trade in
Hey man, I have a 2010 FX4 with the sport cloth too... I posted some pics a while back. I got some custom seat covers. Try this link Car Seat Covers; Truck Seat Covers; Custom Automotive OEM Styles; Seat Heaters and Lumbar Support Systesm.
Hopefully that works. They are really high quality, but you pay for that quality. For front and rear I paid almost 600 bucks. But they are definately worth it IMO. Cheaper than re-upholstery later down the road. My posting is only a few pages back if you want to check out the pics, or you can view my gallery.

Actually, I am keeping the seats in good shape for me. I would be kinda sad/pissed if in a couple of years I messed up the seat(s) on accident and then had to get seat covers to hide it for the remainder of the time I have the truck. (or get them redone if I could find the same material). Yea, I know, it is a truck, but I still want to take care of it and have it last in somewhat similar condition
ditto on keeping them nice... I also got mine because they look great with the FX4 interior... The grey inlaid in black really goes with the dash trim...

I took a look at North West (proseatcovers), and I really like the Cool Sport Black/Black. Did you get the Cool Sport fabric? Right now the front/back with no backrest map and with headrests is $387 with shipping. (there is a discount right now if you by front and back rows)
If the material is anything like it was in the rangers it is pretty tough. I had a 97 ranger that I drove for 275,000 miles and both front seats looked almost as good as new when i sold it. Didn't have any stains on them and I didn't try and take care of them. I got in how ever i happened to be, dirty or clean.
I have a 2110 XLT supercab and i purchased the ultimate treatment package for it. Hopefully this will work to keep the seats as good looking years from now as they do now.
yeah, I got the cool sport fabric... I also got the map pockets in the back of the front seats- cost an extra 30 per seat. They are machine washable, but I really hope they don't have to be cleaned for a long time... they were a real PITA to get on. They are so tight that it took my wife and I a good hour to put them on. But the website and included instructions were pretty good.

Is the inlay colour actually grey, because on their website they only show a cool sport silver (black with silver accent). I'm just wondering if that's what you got. I have the same black sport cloth interior in my 09 FX4 and I'm trying to decide if I want the solid black or black/silver covers. Thanks

I believe they were actually called silver, but they don't have any mettalic tint to them... they are really a grey color. It matches the dash color well. You can look at my gallery or my previous post with pictures.
