2000 V10

I've had a couple PSD's in my past but am considering a V10 right now. Seems like the PSD's are priced about 5-6k grand higher in my area. I really like this V10 that I am looking at so should I be afraid? I assume with proper upkeep the motor will last a long time and the difference in fuel economy will take years to make up the diffence in price. Especially since diesel is about 30 cents more a gallon around here anyway....

I am mod crazy and would probably add a blower to the V10 so I am not really concerned about the extra power the diesel can make outta the chute.

Thanks for the advice. Definitely leaning towards pulling the trigger on Monday. It's a little high on the price side, but looks like it has a nice lift and brand new wheels and tires.

2000 Ford Excursion XLT V-10 4x4 6" lift 33" Tires

I hate the fact that it isnt leather, but I know I can get the seats recovered or swapped out. Alot of the leather interiors I have seen with 100k+ miles need some serious work anyway also... What do you guys think a fair price on this thing is?

I got leather.......truly prefer cloth......leather looks nice.......until you have to sit in it....hot in the summer.....cold in the winter. Plus I think today's cloth wears better...no cracks.....might be me but couldn't see your link

That price is very high imo. I would not pay more than dealer retail (KBB) for any vehicle. I know we have gone through this before and many on here have said that the Excursions go for more in their area but still, $10k is crazy for that vehicle. A lift does NOT add that much value to a vehicle.

From KBB:

Excellent
$7,550
  • Looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning.
  • Never had any paint or body work and is free of rust.
  • Clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection.
  • Engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects.
  • Complete and verifiable service records.
Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

Definitely gonna work them on the price some. Problem is, I have an explorer that I am trading in that probably has a trade in value of about 12-13k. So, the dealership is gonna have to cut me back a check. They should do it though, I would think a 06 limited 4x4 explorer with a v8 is alot easier sell for them than this big boy. I think with the trade and a check to me for 2500-3k, I will be happy.

Its rediculous around here though. I have looked at a couple 00 7.3s around here that are lifted and need tires and other work and are nowhere as clean as this one, and the places will hardly budge off $20k.

I worked at dealerships for ten years....they don't want to pay out !! at all......if you sell the explorer on your own and buy the EX straight out you'll do better !!

I sold cars for 8 years and no where that I worked minded trading that way as long as the numbers worked. It's no different than buying a car from the auction. The books still show profit on the sale and then a trade bought in even if the trade is worth more than the sold vehicle.

And, of course you will do better selling your trade yourself than you will trading. The dealer is cutting his profit out of your trade in number.

$20K for a 2000 7.3L??? Someone would have to be smoking dope or drunk to pay that. KBB retail in a limited with 100K is only $12,500.

I definitely realize I am going to take a pretty good hit on the explorer, but selling cars privately is such a pita, I am willing to do it. I agree too that as long as the numbers work, they wont mind paying extra for my vehicle. I am only looking to get 12-13k for a vehicle that would retail in the 20k range, so it should work out!
