Well I know this question has been asked before,
but unable to find a post that can answer my question...
I have tow motors the casting numbers are almost identical, but different
they are located in the same place just above the oil pan on the driver side.
they are 12 EBP-6105-L and the other one is 11 EBP-6015-L
are these the date codes or do they tell what size it is or what?
I'm not sure, I think U need to look on the other side. I have a decoder, there are some on line (google). I think the 6105 means engine. Lemmie see if I can remember - May Be a letter, number, letter, number (four).
1st space is decade, 2nd is year, 3rd is model, 4th is engine. Ah...1st letter, D=1970s C=1960s B=50s. 2nd space on my CE - 8, means (1968), get it?
Fella here called "Parts Dummie" may be helpful for ya. Search in the blue line accross the page (above) under Members and PM him, he's nice enuff w/his help.
Damn thing, every time I press those keys in combo it puts dat guy w/the tilted head, smile, n shades. Full engine numbers for me (& I hope it formats correctly)
11
C 8 D E
6015-A
The second line is what you're looking for. Mine = 196 8 Falcon engine
Some say the (hyphen) A means 170 cid.
Look on the other side of your engine, look higher, lower. Also Intake and Exhaust casting numbers can help, alto we all know those can be swaped out.
My carb hits my hood. Ford has "families" (144, 170, 200, 250) of engines (240 & 300) not small block/big block like chebby, and the casting numbers can be unhelpful. So the falcon engine in my bronco is as it should be BUT I DO have a car engine in there. You can tell cuz it has 2 dip sticks (L & R side, 1 in block, 1 in pan). OP (pre '82) put an engine in there but kept the bronk pan to fit around the frnt drive line. Carb hits the hood too.
