Looking to find a Body lift for a 2001 explorer sport. Does anyone know where I can find one, or if one for a sport track will work? any help would be awesome!!!
you can prolly stuff 32-33s with just a BL. with a BL and torsion twist and shackles you would more easly fit 33s and possibly stuff 35s with trimming.
......then you'll need to change your front & rear gearing or it'll be a D O G !! Here's a tire size calculator for you to consider. The bottom row will show the % difference in diameter. Apply this to your gear ratio and see what happens to it........
A 33x12.50x16 is 15% larger than a 235/70R16. If you have 4.10 gears you end up with around a 3.50 and if you have the 3.73's you get a 3.11. Neither is real good for off roading. You'll kill a clutch or auto tranny like that and the auto won't shift right either. Oh, you'll need to own a gas station too. Just things to think about. Good luck!
I'm not gonna be mudding it much if any, but I do get off the paved road fairly often running Vol. EMT. I though about lifting it a little and staying factory on the tires, but just to give it a little clearance. what do you guys think?
Makes sense to me. Is it a 4x4? Crank up the torsion bars on front, getting the new keys if need be. Air shocks on the rear or relocate the axle to under the springs. Running EMT I'm sure no one needs to go into what a higher center of gravity will get you..... Mine is a 4x4 and I dropped it 2" !
lol no, I understand full well the consequences of high center of gravity. lol we do live in farm country here in S.E. ohio and I've ended up in more than one field or tractor path with the ol'girl. so does it look ok, or does it look stupid without going with bigger tires?
I think it looks ok. The 265/75R16's would fill up the wheel wells and give a hair more axle clearance without messing up the gearing, etc. IMO the body lift would be a big waste of effort and $$.........just my 2 cents.
Mine, stock height. Cranking the torsion bars would have evened out the "high" look.
But I do little off-roading, using the 4wd for slippery surfaces, and prefer stability and handling. Here it is now after the 2" drop.
