Sport Trac?
Since our '94 Explorer needs a $1500 transmission, we are debating putting it out to pasture with 345,000 miles. So, how is the Sport Trac? Looking in the 2001-2007 range, under $10,000. Comments, recommendations, pluses, minuses? Also, how is the SOHC 4.0? Thanks in advance.

I own an 05 2wd Sport Trac as my daily driver, I would recommend it to anyone.
I came from a full size F150, I have been able to haul anything I have wanted to in it
I have not had any issues other than normal wear items. My only knock is cabin noise
so I just trun up the radio.

I still miss my Sport Trac for its versatility and styling. I renovated my whole house with it, I had 10-15 sheets of drywall in it at a time, with tons of capacity to spare. I found the ride quality objectionable. I sold it at 100k miles because I was reading a lot about costly chain tensioner problems. Other than the ride quality and somewhat high fuel consumption, it was an awesome vehicle. Plan to do frequent brake service if you do buy one. By the way, if you ever need to rent a trailer from U-Haul, steer clear of anything that has the name Explorer on it. They will NOT rent you a trailer to haul with an Explorer no matter how hard you try.
