I got a replacement IAC from autopartstrain.com and it has a **** of some kind on the side that my factory IAC doesn't have. You can turn the **** counter & clockwise and it doesn't tighten down it just spins. I haven't put it on yet only because it looks different and I want some feedback before I go ahead and slap it on.
Anyone seen this type before? I'm trying to attach a pic so let me know if it doesn't come through.
I'm a 2003 XLT 4.6L
I tried to attach a pic but can't figure out how, any help on the attachment?
Just went out to pull the old IAC off and the pigtail is different stock to replacement. I double checked part numbers and it looks like they sent the right application number.
I went back to partstrain and did a cross reference. The part number I ordered is for a 4.6 but when I crossed checked against a 5.4 the image of the 5.4 is the one I have on my 4.6.
Or at least I've always thought I have a 4.6 but now I'm not so sure. I bought it used so I don't have the factory sticker. There is a sticker on the valve cover that has 4.6L but I know that's far from a for sure.
Does anyone know if the VIN give the engine size?

The VIN will tell, just post the first 11 digits and someone will be able to let you know.
No magic Moto I ran a private message to fordtech.
I searched autozone and it seems like it is a case of bad packaging. On the zone site the plunger inside the 5.4 part number valve looks like the one delivered to me and the plunger on the 4.6 part number looks the factory valve I have currently.
